David Rock Vanderpool, Esq. Attorney at Law · Washington
Washington Traffic & Criminal Defense

You did not plan on needing a lawyer. Then the ticket showed up.

Maybe it was a traffic stop on the way home, or a charge that turned an ordinary week upside down. Either way, you are probably running the same loop: what does this mean for my license, my insurance, my job, my record. I am David Rock Vanderpool, and for nearly twenty years I have stood beside drivers and everyday people in Washington's courts at exactly this moment. I have seen how heavy that envelope can feel, and I know the way through. The first step is a conversation, and you can take it today.

Admitted to the Washington State Bar since 2007 · WSBA #38572

What I Handle

Traffic and criminal defense

Wherever you are in this, the first move never changes. I look at the facts of your citation or charge, the court it sits in, and the honest ways it can resolve, and then we choose the path that fits your life instead of a generic playbook.

Traffic and infractions

Speeding and moving violations

Speed citations, following too closely, improper lane changes, and right-of-way tickets.

Electronic device and equipment

Cell phone and personal electronic device citations, seatbelt, and equipment-related infractions.

Registration and license issues

Expired tabs, registration questions, and the license consequences that can follow a citation.

Contested and mitigation hearings

Requesting and preparing contested hearings, and presenting mitigation when that is the better path.

Criminal defense

DUI and physical control

Driving under the influence and physical control matters, from the first hearing through resolution.

Reckless and negligent driving

Reckless driving and negligent driving charges, including how they relate to other citations.

Driving while suspended

Driving while license suspended or revoked, and the steps toward getting back on solid ground.

Other criminal matters

Misdemeanors and other criminal charges. Tell me what you are facing, and I will let you know if it is something I handle.

About the Firm

Who you would be working with

I have spent most of my career inside Washington's district and municipal courts, the rooms where these cases are actually decided. When you are anxious about a court date, it helps to have someone beside you who has stood in that room a thousand times. I know how each court runs, what its deadlines are, and how to keep a case moving without wasted motion.

I try to practice the way I would want to be treated. That means being honest about what your case is and is not, never promising an outcome I cannot control, and being careful with your time and your trust. You stay the person making the decisions. My job is to hand you a clear map and walk the hard part with you.
